Il Giuncheto

The Giuncheto is a typical Tuscan farmhouse of the middle nineteenth century now adapted  as landlord/Bed and Breakfsast, it is located in the municipality of Trequanda, in the province of Siena.

Trequanda is a corner of Siena’s countryside rich of art, culture and landscapes capable to fascinate anyone who wants to explore and know.The medieval village of Trequanda, recognised with environmental tourist quality’s mark Orange Flag, sites on a hill between the Val d’Asso in the west and the amble Val di Chiana in the east. Il Giuncheto is immerse in the green and in the perfume of Tuscan land, it is easy to reach because it is not so far from the exit of tollbooth Valdichiana for anyone that comes from A1 motorway (17 km), and not so far from the exit Sinalunga of freeway Perugia-Siena (9 km), which is a famous tourists stage that connects il Giuncheto to Pienza (17 km), Montalcino (29 km), Montepulciano (21 km). The most beautiful Tuscan’s farmhouses are perfectly in harmony with the landscape, builded with the local stone with tawny tones, ochre and violets, with arches and bricks’loggias , timbereds and arcades, good use of a spontaneous architecture but with a lot of wisdom. Trequanda is completely contained in the town walls with two doors to enter, but at the beginning the doors were three, one was destroyed during WWII. The doors are Sun’s Door, built in tuff and travertine and Leccio’s Door, in tuffaceous blocks, that lead on oak forest.From Garibaldi Square, near the Immaculate’s Church, touristic attraction together with Saints Peter and Andrew’s Church, we can enter crenellated walls and see the impressive tower in white limestone of XIII century castle. While leaving the village we can find Sodo’s Church decorates with a fresco of the 400 that represent the Madonna with the Child. Near the village, in a little oaks and cypresses forest, we can find the Wind Mill Tower.

In this picturesque landscape, where you will “breathe” history and beauty of the past and you will live unforgettable moments. Il Giuncheto is arranged on two levels for a total of 500 square metres with amble surrounding space of about 4000 square meters. In the old farmhouse, rearranged  as B&B, you can find on the higher floor  two suites and a common space where you can relax reading a book or playing table games. On the floor below you can find two double rooms, a quadruple room, a room for the breakfast and the reception. Every room has its own bathroom. On the outside there is a relaxing garden.

Our service includes a rich breakfast served in the morning to our guest, with salted and sweet dishes cooked with local and typical ingredients. The guests are received with a welcome aperitif or with a dinner, where “smells and tastes” of Tuscan cookery are mixed in the immeasurable beauty of the uncontaminated nature.
